WHO MADE CRICKET SPORTS?
There is a consensus of expert opinion that cricket may have been invented during Saxon or Norman times by children living in the Weald, an area of dense woodlands and clearings in south-east England. The first reference to cricket being played as an adult sport was in 1611, and in the same year, a dictionary defined cricket as a boys' game. There is also the thought that cricket may have derived from bowls, by the intervention of a batsman trying to stop the ball from reaching its target by hitting it away. They say you have to be born into cricket. Me, I love it. An American friend once described it as “baseball on Valium.” The origins of the game of cricket are lost in the mists of time. There is a reference in the household accounts of King Edward I in 1300 of a game much like cricket being played in Kent. The English game originated in the sheep-raising country of the Southeast, where the short grass of the pastures made it possible to bowl or roll a ball of rags or wool at a target. That target was usually the wicket gate of the sheep paddock, which was defended with a bat in the form of a shepherd’s crooked staff.
WHERE IS CRICKET PLAYED?
Cricket is played with a bat and ball and involves two competing sides of 11 players. The field is oval with a rectangular area in the middle, known as the pitch, that is 22 yards (20.12 meters) by 10 feet (3.04 meters) wide. Two sets of three sticks, called wickets, are set in the ground at each end of the pitch. Across the top of each wicket lie horizontal pieces called bails. The sides take turns at batting and bowling (pitching); each turn is called an “innings”. Cricket is played in some countries like India ,Pakistan ,Bangladesh, New Zealand ,Australia, England, Srilanka, Zimbabwe, west indies, Ireland, Scotland ,Hongkong, South Africa, Canada ,Netherlands and Bermuda . the icc (international cricket council ) is holding matches in USA and trying to develop the sport there. Thereafter, cricket became recognizably the game that is played today, despite many changes regarding leg before dismissals, intimidatory bowling, no balls, the weight of the bats, covered wickets, and protective clothing. In the wake of England’s recent tour of South Africa, the thought of Harrison strolling up to the wicket and delivering the ball underarm does have a certain appeal, and it’s tempting to suggest that he could scarcely have achieved worse results with the old-fashioned technique.
WHAT KIND OF BALL USED IN CRICKET?
A cricket ball is a hard, solid ball used to play cricket. A cricket ball consists of a cork core wound with string then a leather cover stitched on, and manufacture is regulated by cricket law at first-class level. The trajectory of a cricket ball when bowled, through movement in the air, and off the ground, is influenced by the action of the bowler and the condition of the ball and the pitch, while working on the cricket ball to obtain optimal condition is a key role of the fielding side. A cricket ball is made from cork strips and a tightly wound string. It is then covered by a leather case with a slightly protruding seam. The outer layer of a ball, which is covered by the highest quality leather, is cut into four pieces. The seam of a cricket ball has a total of 6 stitches, 3 on either side. The seam is diligently rotated by 90 degrees to making sure that a cricket ball has an uniform shape to it. Each section is then put into a vice, which molds the leather into the shape of a hemisphere. The principal method through which the batsman scores runs is by hitting the ball, with the bat, into a position where it would be safe to take a run, or by directing the ball through or over the boundary. Cricket balls are harder and heavier than baseballs.
